CROWD FUNDING “ETOFALI”

Crowd funding is commonly  known as “etofali” in luganda, it’s a form of collective pooling of resources to support an initiative/project/venture/cause. People do crowdfunding without even realizing they are doing it for example here in Uganda people crowdfund weddings and introduction ceremonies, burial ceremonies, social projects, charity initiatives mostly community based. Saving groups commonly known as SACCOS are also a form of crowd funding. There are a lot of ways startups can raise funds, but today lets discuss crowd funding as a form of startup financing; am part of a crowdfunding project to raise capital for a new business called CAMPUS DOCTOR. Campus Doctor is a health care service venture targeting universities students offering quality and affordable health care services in a serene and trendy environment. How Do LED Lights Save Money ?

LED ENERGY SAVERS Light-emitting diodes, more commonly referred to as LEDs, are semiconductors that emit light when an electrical current is applied to the component. Even though LEDs have been around since the early ‘60s, it is only in recent years that white LED bulbs have become more commonly used as a substitute for other industrial and household lighting systems. Their rising popularity is due, in part, to the positive impact they have on energy-efficiency.  Find out how LED lights are saving the planet, one lumen at a time. Efficacy In the United States, EISA (Energy Independence and  Security Act of 2007) banned the production of incandescent bulbs in order to move towards a more energy-efficient country. The act, passed by the Department of Energy (DOE), requires less electrical output per number of lumens (units of emitted visible light) produced, compared to previously used incandescent light bulbs. Under title 24 of the California Energy Code, stricter building

How to save 'Ugshs 1,108,800 a year' with LED lightbulbs

These bulbs, which are made up of LEDs (light-emitting diodes), are about 10 times more efficient at converting electricity into light than the old-fashioned filament variety. This explains the difference in the wattage needed. So, to replace a traditional 60W bulb you need just a 6W LED bulb. Although they are considerably more expensive to buy than traditional light bulbs and other “low energy” types of bulb, such as those that work more like fluorescent lights, they consume so much less electricity that you will quickly recoup your outlay in lower bills. CALCULATIONS ORDINARY 60W BULB For simplicity’s sake we’ve looked at a medium-size home containing 10 light fittings, each currently with an old-style 60W bulb. We’ve assumed that the owners are retired so the lights are on for an average of 10 hours a day. The total power consumption of the 10 lights with old-style bulbs comes to 600W or 0.6kW.  Electricity is sold in units of kilowatt-hours (kWh) – the amoun

THE NEW ECONOMY

Over the last 100yrs, an interesting phenomenon occurred. The rise of the Corporation became the standard in society. The safe and respected place for people to exist in the work place was as an employee: # Step  1: Go to school to learn how to be an employee. #Step 2: Find a company that will employ you. #Step 3: Work for that company for 35yrs. #Step 4: Retire( You discover that you can't retire comfortably after 35 years, so you keep working. Now we are going through the biggest shift in any of our lifetimes. For a century, companies have paid people by the hour, by the week,by the month or by the year. That's changing on a global level. The world is moving toward a performance economy. And it is already happening. Here is what that means: In the future, you are only going to be paid for performance. You wont be paid for your time anymore. The NEW ECONOMY needs fewer people, so the company has more people competing for fewer and fewer jobs. Technology a
